Whitney of this city died Monday afternoon, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Pitt. --------------------------------------------- Cawker City Journal Aug. 17, 1887 Died-- Aug. 8th inst., Mrs. Elizabeth Else Whitney, at the residence of her daughter Mrs. Pitt, on Oak Creek. She was borne at Sutton, England, July 11th 1815, aged 72. The deceased had been in feeble health for several months previous to the last three days of suffering that ended with a call to a higher life. Funeral services were attended by a goodly number of relatives and friends, who sorrowfully followed her remains to its final resting place beside those of her first husband. She was one who had lived a truly noble and exemplary life in ministering to the sick and sharing the afflictions that comes to all with a kindly cheerful, Christian spirit, faithfully filling the mission of mother to the orphan left in her care, endearing herself, in many ways, by her fidelity to lives best aims and hopes, and a memory of her daily struggle to be just, will leave a salutary influence with those who knew her best. For many years she dwelt among the revered and honored but now doth live and move in the light of Gods eternal presence. ****************
