Description	:	Elisha, James F., and Rachel Hagood were siblings. MILLS COUNTY CENTURY FARMS The Mildred V. Jordan farm, Rural Route 1, Emerson, was first settled by her grandparents, Elisha and Elizabeth Hagwood [sic], who purchased the land upon their arrival from Illinois. The McGrews and Mrs. Hagwood [sic] moved to the town of Emerson. McGrew raised corn and small grain and owned purebred Jersey dairy cows and horses. He farmed the land until 1926, when he returned to teaching. In 1926, Guy and Mildred Jordan moved on the land. They raised corn, oats, hogs and a dairy herd. Guy and his brother, Dallas, were among the first in Mills Co. to use contour farming, later switching to terrace farming. The brothers* were also among the first to grow brome grass. Mr. and Mrs. Jordan farmed the land until 1970, being helped by their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. David Angus. Since 1971 Everett McGrew has been in charge of the farm. McGrew is a great-great-grandson of Mrs. Hagwood {sic]. He is raising corn and beans and pastures his cattle on the land His farm, where he resides, is located on the north and west sides of the Jordan farm. Presently living in the farmhouse on the land is Mr. and Mrs. Donald Angus. Angus is another great-great-grandson of Mrs. Hagwood [sic]. The grainery, first used as a farmhouse, is the oldest buildling on the farm. Another old building is the peg barn, which is still being used for hay storage.
