Description	:	During the 1970s Eliza Hartman's grand-niece Mrs. Clement (Mabel Kleese) Griffith (1895-1997) of Washington, Iowa, gave me a massive amount of information on my Kleese cousins in Iowa, including she put me into contact with grandchildren of George Washington Hartman and wife Eliza Ann Kleese. Eliza Ann Kleese is with her parents in the 1850 federal census (page 431, #811-822, Muncy Twp., Lycoming Co., PA) and is named in her father's last will and testament (Lycoming County, PA, Will Book C, page 58). Eliza Ann Kleese is with her parents in the 1850 federal census (page 431, #811-822, Muncy Twp., Lycoming Co., PA) and is named in her father's last will and testament (Lycoming County, PA, Will Book C, page 58). According to information given me by Hazel M. Sheehan of Bridgeport, PA, in 1980, who was researching the Hartman family, George Washington Hartman is with his parents in the 1850 federal census (page 476, #1451-1472, Franklin Twp., Lycoming Co., PA). George and Eliza were married January 31, 1856, by Rev. Wm. Life (from Muncy Luminary newspaper). George and Eliza Hartman are living in Shewsbury Twp., Lycoming Co., PA in the 1860 (page 31, #256-261) and 1870 (page 2, #12-12) federal censuses. In 1860 and 1870 George is a blacksmith. According to family tradition, George was a blacksmith in Williamsport, PA, and in 1874 they moved from Pennsylvania to Iowa. In the 1880 federal census (ED 136, page 6, #46-47) George and Eliza are living in Jackson Twp., Washington Co., Iowa, and George is a farmer. In the 1900 federal census (ED 74, sheet 26, #627-638) George and Eliza are living by themselves in Washington Twp., Washington Co., Iowa, and George is a landlord. George and Eliza Hartman's sons William and Walter were twins, in spite of the difference in their birthdates on findagrave. The list of the children of George Washington Hartman and Eliza Ann Kleese is complete on findagrave, except for a 9th child who died before the 1900 federal census. Please see comments under C. L.
