Mrs. Rachau was in her usual health and had started to visit a neighbor, Mrs. Carry Stults, and had gone about two or three blocks when she was stricken. She then seemingly became bewildered and wandered out into the street, where she fell and was carried to her home by Messrs Albert Logan and George Barrett and Mrs. Stults. She never regained consciousness and died in about a half hour from the time she was taken to her home. The physician was called and pronounced her illness cerebral hemorrhage. Eliza Anne Rachau was born in Huntington county, Penn., May 4, 1844, where she was reared to womanhood. She was married to George Rachau in Center county, Pennsylvania in 1859. She with her husband came to Missouri in 1879 settling in Nodaway county, where they have resided since. She leaves her aged husband, two children, Mrs. Mary Palmerton, Burlington Junction, and Wm. Rachau, Council Bluff, Iowa. The funeral services will be held at the home Thursday at 9:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. C. H. Sauceman. Burial in the Quitman cemetery."
