She had been ill for several years and her death was the result of heart disease. She had been ill for several years and her death was the result of heart disease. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist church and burial will be in the city cemetery. Eliza Doubet, daughter of Aleanor Doubet of France and Harriett Slane, was born Feb. 7, 1857 at Peoria, Ill., and lived there until 1878 when she was united in marriage to William Guy of Carroll County. They made their home on a farm two miles east of Templeton, where they resided until Mr. Guy retired and moved to Carroll in 1903. They purchased the home on North West street and were numbered among the progressive residents of the town. To this union one son was born, Walter Guy, who died at the age of 16. Mr. Guy died July 3, 1908. On Oct. 7, 1911, Mrs. Guy married M. Shoemaker of Sioux City who was employed on the police force there and they made their home for a time in that city. Later Mr. Shoemaker retired and they came to Carroll and took up their residence in the present home. In addition to Mr. Shoemaker she leaves two brothers, John Doubet of Peoria, Ill., and Charles Doubet, who lives on a farm near there, and a niece, Mrs. A. C. McNaughten, who lives on the home farm near Templeton. She is also survived by Minot, Leonard and Frank Shoemaker, all of Sioux City, Mrs. J. Kyle (Vern) of Teaneck, N. J., Lloyd and Lyma Shoemaker, both of Chicago, the sons and daughters of Mr. Shoemaker. Mrs. Shoemaker's illness was of long duration...10 years ago, she went to Rochester, Minn. for removal of a goitre.....last spring during April and May was in St. Anthony hospital for six weeks...been in a serious condition for weeks......Relatives come to administer to her...make her comfortable. In spite of her suffering she was always cheerful and patient. She was full of hospitality and even during her illness liked nothing better than to have a house full of company. She was one of the good Christian women of the community, a member of the Methodist church all her life.....
