Mrs. John Galloway, 513 South Third street, a resident of this city for 74 years, died at 1:05 am Monday at the Evangelical Deaconess hospital where she had been a patient a week. Death was due to a complication of diseases due to advanced age. Mrs. Galloway was born Eliza Harvey in Fort Wayne, Ind, May 15, 1836, the daughter of John and Dorcas Harvey. When she was 14 years of age, she came to this city and had lived here since. She came with her parents in a team and wagon train and the family camped from spring until fall by a spring which was where the Riverside cemetery pond is now located. She was married first to Pearl Elery in Marshalltown in 1871. They were the parents of four sons, Dan Elery, whose address is unknown, Charley who died five years ago, Roy Elery of Waterloo, and Sam Elery of this city. After the death of Mr. Ellery,(divorced, not widowed) she was married to Hezikiah Boury in this city in 1883. They were the parents of four children, a son, George, preceded her in death, and surviving are John Boury, Frank Boury, and Mrs. T.H. Kendall, all of this city. Mr. Boury died 15 years ago. In May 1931, she was married to John Galloway, who survives. Mrs. Galloway was the last of her family, but besides her widower and children, she is survived by 27 grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Pursel Funeral home in charge of Rev. P.G. Dennis. Burial will be in Riverside.
