Description	:	Eliza Jane McCaughney was born in Treanagh county, Ireland, August 12, 1844. She came to this county at the age of eighteen, and was married to Thomas Taggart, April 23, 1870, in Worcester, N. Y. To this union were born three children - Robert J., Anna, now Mrs. J. F. Malone, of Ottumwa, and Bessie, all of whom are living and were present at the time of her death. Read More	Eliza Jane McCaughney was born in Treanagh county, Ireland, August 12, 1844. She came to this county at the age of eighteen, and was married to Thomas Taggart, April 23, 1870, in Worcester, N. Y. To this union were born three children - Robert J., Anna, now Mrs. J. F. Malone, of Ottumwa, and Bessie, all of whom are living and were present at the time of her death. Mrs. Taggart came to Iowa in the early days and has endured all the hardships incident to the settlement of the country. During the past 30 years she has resided in Ringgold county and on the same farm. Mrs. Taggart has been a sufferer from cancer for the past 16 months, but during this long period of suffering she never complained. Death came Monday April 13, 1908. Interment was made in the Ellston cemetery, services being conducted by Rev. Yelland, of Grand River. Mrs. Taggart united with the Church of England at an early age, and reunited with the Methodist church of Beaconsfield, about 9 years ago, of which she remained a consistent member until her death. The large number of neighbors and friends who attended her during her last illness and death are evidence of the high esteem in which she was held by all who knew her.
