Description	:	married Jacob Springer in Uniontown on March 11, 1845 Left Pennsylvania with her husband on and children on June 2, 1852.They came overland by a team of oxen. There were no railroads west of Chicago at that time. Near Iowa City, they came across two squadrons of the U.S. Army escorting Mesquakie Indians back to the reservation. The following year, four hundred of the Mesquakie left the reservation and purchased land near what is now Tama, becoming the Springers closest neighbors, and they became friends with many of them.They reached St Clair township on July 5, 1852, and erected a tent, which they lived in... There was only one family living between the Springers and Cedar Rapids, sixteen miles away. The only family north of him was three miles south of Vinton. A colony of German settlers, about five families, settled to the south, across the river in Iowa County. Jacob and Eliza had nine children. Five died in infancy, and the eldest son died in the Civil War.
