We learn that Mrs. Funston had consumption and had been ailing for the past year, but no serious apprehensions were felt in regard to her case till the morning of her death. She felt as well as usual till ten minutes before her departure. The immediate cause of death was hemorrhage of the lungs. Mr. Funston had just finished one of the best farm residences in the county, and the family proposed to begin moving in the day of Mrs. Funston's death. Surely there are many disappointments in this world. Another correspondent sends us the following additional notice: The deceased died in the 43d year, surrounded by all the comforts which tend to make this life a happy one, a kind, loving and generous husband, a family of five intelligent and dutiful children. Yet that fell destroyer, consumption, had fastened its deadly fangs upon that frail constitution, nor would he let his victim go, until death came to her relief. Mrs. Funston had been a faithful and consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal church here for several years, and was a true christian. She died as she had lived, with that full assurance of an admittance into that ever blessed Eternity - "that haven of rest" - prepared by the Savior for all of his faithful followers. The bereaved family have our most heartfelt sympathy in this, their deep affliction, and surely "God will temper the wind to the shorn land." The funeral services took place at one o'clock Sunday, from the late residence, and the mortal remains were followed to the cemetery by a large concourse of mourning friends. O. S.
