Description	:	Death came to the home of postmaster Sykes Sunday and took away the companion of his life. Mrs. Sykes had been in poor health for a long time and at time suffered greatly until death relieved her and her spirit went home to God who gave it. She was patient and kind and loving as a mother and wife and leaves a host of friends to morn her loss. Her maiden name was Miss Elizabeth A. Miller. She was born in Columbia county and at the time of her death was 75 years 2 months and 15 days old. August... She was patient and kind and loving as a mother and wife and leaves a host of friends to morn her loss. Her maiden name was Miss Elizabeth A. Miller. She was born in Columbia county and at the time of her death was 75 years 2 months and 15 days old. August 17, 1859 she was married to Andrew J. Sykes and to the union there were born three children namely, W.A. Sykes who recently passed away, Miss Elizabeth Sykes ad Mrs. H. M. Crooks both of this city. Andrew J Sykes being wounded in a battle in the Civil War died upon the field in June 1873. She was again united in marriage this time to Otis Sykes to which union two children Maude and Doris were born. The former dying at the age of 16 years. Funeral services were today at 1 o’clock p.m. at the Mennonite church, and the burial was made in the cemetery nearby Out of respect the deceased and the husband and family who survive, all business places were closed between 1 and 3 o’clock for time at the Funeral.
