"Bessie" Cech, 97, of Wilber, formerly of Wahoo, David City and Weston, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Svoboda Funeral Home Chapel at Wahoo. She died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Regional Health Center in Lincoln. Elizabeth Kratochvil Fiala was born Feb. 24, 1905, at Sophia, Okla. As a child, she moved with her family to the Agnew area. She attended Hillside School (District 56) south of Agnew. She worked at Western Electric Company at Lincoln and was a retired homemaker. As a child, she moved with her family to the Agnew area. She attended Hillside School (District 56) south of Agnew. She worked at Western Electric Company at Lincoln and was a retired homemaker. She married Frank Cech. He died Nov. 14, 1977. They lived at Weston. She later lived in Dwight, David City and Wahoo before moving to the Wilber Care Center. Survivors include: a son, John (and wife, Lois) Fiala of Lincoln, a daughter, Virginia Knippel of Tacoma, Wash.; a brother, Steven (and wife, Georgia) Kratochvil of Raymond, two sisters, Mary Taylor of Lincoln and Clare (Mrs. Stan) Senderek of Green Valley, Ariz.; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, stillborn infant grandson, a son-in-law, four brothers and two sisters. The Rev. Thomas Dunavan will officiate Tuesday's service. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Monday and will continue one hour before service all at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at Agnew. She married Jerry Fiala in Lancaster County, NE on 2/11/1924 (Marriage Book 55, Page 257) Their son, Lloyd Edward Fiala died 1 Feb 1944 in Lincoln, NE, age 13.
