On August 5, 1936, Elizabeth Arps was married to Carl F. Halstead in Sidney, Iowa. After building their new home in Schuyler, Nebraska, she worked as a photographers assistant for the Langren Studio and later as a clerk/teller for Farmer's and Merchant's Bank and later for the Schuyler State Bank. Elizabeth was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Fremont. She had been a member of the former Purple Cane Methodist Church, and the Christ United Methodist Church of Schuyler. She has been a resident of Fremont since 1993. She had several hobbies including quilting, crocheting, hooking rugs, gardening, fishing, and photography. She was instrumental in securing Life-line in the Schuyler area, and worked as the coordinator for several years. She taught adult Sunday school for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl on August 4, 1982, her parents Chris and Jennie Arps, sisters Eva Hoge, Mattie Hoge, Nora Hallowell, and Elva Koester, and brothers Chris, Leonard, August, LeRoy, Clarence, and an infant brother Gordon Arps. Surviving are a brother Ted Arps of Scribner, and 3 sisters-in-law, Dee Arps of Wyoming, Shirley Arps of Oregon, and Dorothy Arps of California, and several nieces and nephews.
