Betty was preceded in death by her parents and older sister Adelaide (Addy) Svitak of Mesa, AZ. Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Thomas, age 80 of Stanton, died Thursday March 27, 2014 at Stanton Health Center in Stanton. She was born July 18, 1933 at Stanton, Nebraska the daughter of Joseph and Adelaide (Jindra) Erychleb, she attended Stanton County District #9 until 8th grade and graduated from Stanton High School in 1951. After graduating she was employed as a Teller at First National Bank in Stanton. On August 7, 1956 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stanton, Betty and David L. Thomas were united in marriage. They made their first home on a farm near Newman Grove. Betty was a housewife and homemaker and the family moved to Betty's family homestead near Stanton in 1970. After her two children graduated, she was employed in dietary at Stanton Nursing Home. She took a job as a retail clerk at Gibson's until it closed and then Hobby Lobby in Norfolk and worked until she retired in 2001. The couple moved to an apartment in Norfolk 2002 and resided there until she became ill. She moved to Golden Living Center in Norfolk on March 24, 2009 was transferred to Stanton Health Center on July 20, 2011. Was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and St. Peter's Altar Society in Stanton. Betty enjoyed knitting and crocheting, creating many beautiful handmade keepsakes for her children and grandchildren throughout the years. She was an avid gardener, baker and seamstress, and a devoted wife and mother. She will be deeply missed. Survivors include her husband of 57 years David L. Thomas of Stanton; 2 Children Mardell M. and David Ferguson of Norfolk; Michael "Mike" D. Thomas of Stanton; 4 Grandchildren: Jesse R. Ferguson and wife Xanat Naranjo Ferguson, Norfolk; Jennifer L.
