Read More	Birth Certificate says her middle name is spelled Ann July 22, 2010 2:00 am LIBBY - Elizabeth Anne Petrusha Earle, 81, died peacefully on Monday, July 19, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Hospital, in Libby. Born in Libby on May 24, 1929, to Mac and Betty Petrusha, she attended school in Libby and during her teen years worked the fountain at the drugstore, where she had a reputation for serving up a mean phosphate. While attending Libby Senior High School she participated in many activities including chorus, drama and the Pep Club. Also a member of the cheerleading squad, she met her husband, George Edward Earle, a star player for the Libby Terriers, at a basketball game in Kalispell. Accurately described by her classmates in the Tamarack yearbook as "swell," "a real corker," and "full of pep and sparkle," Betty Anne graduated in 1947. On Nov. 1, 1947, Betty and George were married at the St. Joseph Catholic Rectory in Libby. From 1947 to 1951, they resided in Spokane, where he operated a service station and she attended Kinman Business University, receiving a degree in accounting and secretarial services. Her first position after graduating was as a dictaphone operator for the Sunshine Biscuit Co. George and Betty returned to Libby in 1951 to raise their family away from the big city. A familiar face in downtown Libby, Betty Anne worked for Pacific Power and Light as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant for more than 40 years. Never idle, in her free time Betty Anne enjoyed sewing clothes for her children, cross stitching, ceramics, oil painting and cooking, as well as many other crafts. An avid reader and traveler, she also loved to be outdoors hiking, camping or working in the garden. No one loved a party more than Betty Anne; the theme of her 80th birthday spent at Quinn's Hot Springs with family was "Animals on Parade," with B.A. dressed as an ape in a pink bikini. She always said she'd die with her boots on and spent the last year of her life proving to her children she was just as independent as her husband George always knew she was. Her legacy to all who knew her is a strong appreciation of living every day to its fullest. While we will remember her for all of this, nothing meant more to her or kept her from her main priorities in life: caring for her family and her faith in God and the Catholic Church. Betty Anne was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Parish in Libby. She was preceded in death by parents Mac and Betty, siblings Barbara Mertel and Darryl Petrusha, grandson Adam Seifert and great-grandson Mason Sjostrom, and most recently her husband George. Betty Anne is survived by siblings Jeana Becker, Robert Petrusha, Corrine Christenson, John Petrusha and Michael Petrusha; daughter Jennifer Anne Seifert and husband Jim of Troy; son Stephen George Earle and wife Kathy of Missoula; daughter Barbara Caroline Montgomery and husband John of St. Maries, Idaho; daughter Alison Earle and husband Kevin McGowan of Alameda, Calif.; and son George Earle and wife Melodie of Lewiston, Idaho; numerous nieces and nephews, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, July 23, at the Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Lincoln County Library Foundation, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
