Read More	Wayne County Democrat Aug. 4, 1921 Obituary Elizabeth Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Brown, was born in W. Virginia May 20, 1831, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. H. Shriver, July 27, 1921, aged 90 years, 2 months and 7 days. For several months prior to her death she knew that the end was near and bore her suffering with Christian fortitude and was willing to go. At the age of 18 years she accompanied her sister and brother-in-law to Ohio and there married John Lewis on May 7, 1851. To this union was born six sons, and four daughters, four sons and three daughters still surviving. The children are A. J. and F. M. Lewis, Mrs. C. H. Shriver, Clio, Mrs. C. B. Brannon of Buhl, Idaho, Mrs. E. E. Bay of Lineville, C. B. Lewis of Corydon, and Harl Lewis of Des Moines, Ia. All the children except Mr. C. B. Lewis and Mrs. C. B. Brannon were with her when the end came. One daughter, Lara Ann, died January 14, 1864. Calvin William died January 14, 1893. Joseph Lee died May 1, 1903. Her husband died January 17, 1913. When quite young she was converted and joined the Baptist church. Several years later during a revival meeting at the Higley school house she joined the Christian Union church and remained a faithful member of that church. In 1856, she, with her husband and five small children, came to Iowa and settled on a farm north of Corydon, Iowa. In 1860 they moved on a farm in Jefferson twp., where she and her husband lived for 44 years. In the fall of 1903 they moved to Corydon, Iowa, where they lived until 1913 when her husband died. Later she moved to Clio, where she spent the remainder of her life. Grandma Lewis was an affectionate wife and mother and neighbor. Besides her children she leaves to mourn her loss, 36 grand children, 42 great grand children and two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Not often is it that a mother lives to see her children and the children's children grow up to man and womanhood. God has blessed her, and it is the hope that all of these may live to call her blessed. The family wish to thank all the friends and neighbors for their kindness, to Grandma and to themselves. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. H. Haysom of the church of Clio, Iowa. The interment was at Corydon cemetery on Jul 29, 1921
