RAINSBARGER DEAD Hardin County Pioneer Woman Dies at Home Near Steamboat Rock Mrs. Elizabeth Rainsbarger, mother of Jay and John Rainsbarger and the widow of William Rainsbarger, aged 86 years, died at her home in northeast of Steamboat Rock on Wednesday. Mrs. Rainsbarger had been sick for a number of months and death was due largely to the infirmation of age. Mrs. Rainsbarger's maiden name was Elizabeth Eargood and she was born in Tippecanoe county, Indiana in 1831. She was united in marriage, in Missouri, to William Rainsbarger, in 1860, and shortly afterwards they moved to Hardin county, settling on a farm northeast of Steamboat Rock in Clay township, which remained their home and until their death. Mr. Rainsbarger dying several years ago. Mrs. Rainsbarger was one of the rugged pioneers who helped to transform the bleak prairies of Iowa in those early days into the fertile fields which the state has become in these later days. Mrs. Rainsbarger was the mother of six children, all now grown to man's and woman's estate. She was a woman who found in her home large avenues for doing good and held the respect of all who knew her in the busy years of her eventful life. The funeral services will probably be held from the home Friday and interment take place near where she spent so many years. -- Obituary provided by Robert A. Fahey (#47289555)
