Elizabeth "Lib" Ann Coleman Martin was unexpectedly taken from us on Thursday, December 16, 2021 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Elizabeth "Lib" Ann Coleman Martin was unexpectedly taken from us on Thursday, December 16, 2021 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Many knew Lib as a mom, grandma/granny, sister, aunt, good friend, or maybe the "lunch lady" for the many students who passed through the cafeterias in Madison-Mayodan during their middle and high school years. She married Robert Aaron Martin on February 8, 1952. In their 63 years of marriage, they were blessed with four children: Ricky Aaron Martin (Cathy), Jane Elizabeth Martin Lemons, Anne Marie Martin Garner (Bryant), all of Mayodan, and Keith Robert Martin of Memphis, Tennessee. Additionally, through her dearly loved scouting family (Troop 562), Lib gained a bonus son in Dean Simmons. Also left to cherish her memory are her 7 grandchildren: Dylan Garner, Chloe Lemons (Lucas) and Jamison Lemons, all of Mayodan, Holly Lemons (Simon) of Rural Hall, Reagan Garner (Jacob) of Greensboro, and Kira and Katie Martin of McKinney, Texas. Lib valued her family above all else and cherished every moment with them, which usually involved eating. She also enjoyed her "Hardee's" family. A special mention to some of her favorite people: Ronda Southern and Martha Kephart, but most importantly, her lifelong friend and "bosom buddy" of 70 years, Betty Parrish. Surviving siblings are Joseph "Junior" Coleman, Jr. (Brenda) of Mayodan and Dot Shumake (Bobby) of Madison and Jeanette Albert of Stokesdale. Preceding Lib in death were husband, Aaron; her parents, Raymond, Sr. and Sadie Duggins Coleman; brothers, James T. Coleman (Mavis), Joseph W. Coleman (Ruth); a sister, Margaret Louise Coleman Cardwell (Buster) and brother-in-law, James Lee Albert. Also, left to cherish her memory are her sisters and brother by marriage: Lois Ann Rigney (Darrell), Rebecca (Becky) Hylton, both of Sandy Ridge and Bill "Welbon" Martin of Ridgeway, Virginia. The Martin family always loved Lib as if she were their true sister. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mayodan Municipal Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband she has missed dearly for just over 7 years. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday at Colonial Funeral Home and all other times at Lib's home at 103 Coleman Street, Mayodan. Memorial contributions may be made to Beaver Island Baptist Church, 3111 Ayersville Road, Mayodan, NC 27027. Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
