Description	:	Elizabeth A. Klein, 76, of Tripoli, died Sunday afternoon, August 9, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Private funeral services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Readlyn with Rev. Phil Girardin officiating. The funeral service will be livestreamed on Thursday, August 13, 2020, at 10:30 AM on the St. Paul Lutheran Church Readlyn Facebook Page. Memorials may be made to the family for later designation. Elizabeth Ann (Braatz) Klein was born on November 27, 1943, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Werner Robert and Elizabeth Louise (Sprong) Braatz. She was baptized on December 12, 1943. The family moved to Tripoli in 1954. Liz attended Frederika #5 country school, and when it closed she went to school in Tripoli from eighth grade through high school and graduated on May 19, 1961. She was confirmed on May 19, 1957, at St. John Lutheran Church-Spring Fountain, rural Sumner, where she would marry Leroy Klein on September 9, 1962. Leroy preceded her in death on March 23, 1991. Leroy and Liz were blessed with two children, Jeff and Jill. They each chose spouses who were also dearly loved, Dawn and Todd. Her grandchildren were a special delight: Taylor, Tanner (Bailey), Jena (Nathan), and John. Their activities and watching them grow up kept the whole family busy and entertained! Liz worked at what was then Lutheran Mutual Life Insurance Company (now Cuna) in Waverly for two years and then was a homemaker and stay at home mom until going to work for Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging for twenty years. She also was director of the ACTION center in Tripoli. She worked as a Para-educator in high school special education in Tripoli for thirteen years retiring in 2009. Liz was an active volunteer for the community, serving on the ambulance service, re-organizing Girl Scouts in Tripoli and leading both Brownie and Junior troops, and a Cub Scout den. She taught Sunday School for almost fifty years. She belonged to Women’s Club and organized blood drives for the Red Cross for close to twenty years. She bowled many years and loved to read and do crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Her favorite times were those spent with her family. At the time of her death, Liz was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Readlyn. Liz is survived by her children, Jeff and Dawn Klein of Tripoli, and Jill and Todd Boisen of Garrison; grandchildren, Taylor Klein, Tanner and Bailey Klein, Jena and Nathan Graham, and John Boisen; and special additional “grandson”, Tremane Wren. In addition to her parents and husband, Leroy, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Braatz. Rettig Funeral Home
