Private family services will be held at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello with interment in the Buck Creek Cemetery. Rev. Edwin Moreano will officiate at the services. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, her husband Lyle, a brother, Martin and sister Frances and a step-brother, James Brunt. Elizabeth Ann Ward was born January 5, 1929 at Eddyville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Jess E. and Agnes Gallagher Ward. Her mother died following her birth and she was raised by her father and step-mother, Kathryn Gallagher Brunt Ward. Elizabeth received her early education at Russell, Iowa. She graduated from North High School in Des Moines with the class of 1946. She worked at Equitable of Iowa for a brief time before continuing her education at Grandview College in Des Moines and Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught First and Second Grade in the Central City Schools and later at Blairstown and at Fillmore Elementary School in Cedar Rapids. Elizabeth Ward and Lyle Winch were married August 13, 1950 at the Mondamin Christian Church in Des Moines. They made their home in Marion, Iowa. While in Marion, they also operated a farm in Lucas County near Russell for several years. The couple then moved to Buck Creek in Union Township, Delaware, County, Iowa. They farmed near Buck Creek for many years. Lyle preceded her in death on February 27, 2006. Her health caused her to move to the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in 2007. Elizabeth was a member of the Buck Creek United Methodist Church, and previously First United Methodist Church at Marion. She had been active in the UMW and as a Sunday School Teacher.
