Surviving are a number of children; a sister in Nebraska; and three brothers, Emiel and Otto Ziegler of Buffalo Prairie and Herman Ziegler of Stockport, Iowa. Rushville Pioneer Woman Passes Away Here Sunday Another of Sheridan county's pioneer women passed away Sunday at her home north of Rushville. Mrs. Nickolas Lehman had resided in the county fifty years and had lived on the farm where she was living at the time of her death for forty-five years. Funeral services for "Grandma" Lehman were conducted from the home Wednesday afternoon with Rev. T. W. Shephard officiating. Burial was made in Fairview Cemetery. Elizabeth Ziegler was born April 12, 1854 at Rock Island, Illinois and died at her home north of Rushville, Nebraska January 21, 1937 at the age of 82 years, 9 months, and 19 days. She was married to Nickolas Lehman in Rock Island County, Ill. December 11, 1876 (should be 1873). To this union were born ten children, seven daughters, Bertha, Elizabeth, Emma, Julia, Matilda, Nettie, and Isabell, and three sons, John, George, and Nickolas. Mr. Lehman and two daughters preceded her in death. Mr. Lehman passed away February 20, 1918, Mrs. Elizabeth Lehman Nines on November 27, 1911 and Mrs. Emma Lehman Babby on August 12, 1929. Those left to mourn her departure in the richness and fullness of life are Mrs. Bertha Ammon, Woonsocket, S. Dak., and Mrs. Julia Lulow, Miss Nettie Lehman, Mrs. Isabell Wellnitz, John, George and Nickolas Lehman all of Rushville, Nebraska, three brothers, Otto and Emil Ziegler, Illinois City Illinois, and Herman Ziegler, Fairfield, Iowa., 22 grandchildren, and 40 great grandchildren and a host of friends. Mrs. Lehman was confirmed in the Lutheran church at the age of 16 years and remained true to that faith to death. Mrs. Lehman was one of those characters that through her fortitude and clearness of personality she strew her pathway of life with a wonderful spirit of hospitality which was more or less common to the pioneer life and was a predominating characteristic in her life. She has lived and served well here and has now take up her place in that further life beyond the river of life.
