Mrs. Long was born in Centremoreland, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, on July 29, 1826, and was the daughter of Calvin and Polly Lawton Perrin, who came from Connecticut in 1819. In the year 1847, the deceased was united in marriage to the late John Long, who died nearly three years ago. They moved from Luzerne County to Grundy County, Iowa, 35 years ago, where she has ever since resided. She is survived by one brother, Ezra Perrin, of Liscomb, Iowa, and five children--Perrin Long and Mrs. Tillie Girton of Wayne, Nebraska; Clarke of Pasha, Washington; George and Elias of Whitten, Iowa; three brothers, Daniel of Texas, George, and Gurdin Perrin all died some years ago. The families of George and Gurdin nearly all reside in West Pittston. Mrs. Long was a model mother, a loving sister, and a conscientious Christian. Her motherly instincts were not confined to her own family alone. She was beloved by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. Of her it can be truly said: "None knew her but to love her; none named her but to praise." There are few women of whom as hallowed and precious memories are cherished. The funeral was held at the family home on Thursday, March 7.
