But in Vermont, Vital Records, 1720-1908, as shown on Ancestry.com, there is a hand written birth record that clearly reads July 23, 1793 in Topsham, daughter of John Sawyer. For the gravestone inscription, they must have either estimated or rounded up the year to 1794. I've seen that done in other cases I've run across. John and Betsy Ricker are my g3-grandparents.
