Betty was born in Conway, a daughter of the late James Alexander Garren and Olga Louise Andersen Garren. She was an active member of Langston Memorial Baptist Church. Betty worked for Dr. Gilland for 20 years until his retirement and then she worked for Conway Hospital until her retirement. Read More	Conway…Elizabeth "Betty Ann" Garren Ward, age 76, of Parkhill Drive, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Conway Manor. Betty was born in Conway, a daughter of the late James Alexander Garren and Olga Louise Andersen Garren. She was an active member of Langston Memorial Baptist Church. Betty worked for Dr. Gilland for 20 years until his retirement and then she worked for Conway Hospital until her retirement. She was a member and past president of the Jaycettes and was Jaycette of the Year. Betty was predeceased by her step-mother, Mildred Squires Garren and one sister, Susie Allen. Surviving are three sons, Jim Ward (Beccy), Joey Ward and Steve Ward (Kathy) all of Conway, six grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson (Chris), Lyndsay Chandley (Brandon), Mary Ward, Jimmy Ward (Ashley), Steven Ward (Tangie), and Ashley Jordan (Dustin), four great-grandchildren, Fischer Anderson, Charlotte Caroline "Charli" Ward, Jackson Chandley and Alston Tew, two brothers, Alex Garren (Leeanna) of Conway and Spud Garren (Anne) of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and one sister, Judy Smith (Bobby) of Cross, SC. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Langston Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Davenport and Rev. Mack Hutson officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday at the church.
