March 14, 1848 Book N-1, p 54 Grantee James Ross to HANNAH E BURRIS This indenture made this fourteen th day of March one thousand eight hundred & forty eight between James Ross of the county of Anderson and state of TN of the one part and HANNAH BURRESS and ELIZABETH BURRESS of the county and state aforesaid of the other part witness that the said James Ross for and in consideration of the sum of twenty nine dollars and seventy five cents to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is Herby acknowledged the said James Ross hath this day bargained sold and confirmed unto the said HANNAH BURRESS and ELIZABETH BURRESS their heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land containing fifty acres more or less lying in the county of aforesaid on the mountain part of Popular Creek above the land of Robert McKamey beginning at a white oak thence south fifty five east crossing the creek thirty poles to hickores thence north forty five east eighty two poles to a stake and maples thence north due east twenty two poles to a white oak thence north thirty five east seventy eight poles to a spruce pine thence north sixteen poles crossing the creek to a white oak thence north sixty east up the creek eighty poles to a stake above the mouth of Laurel Branch thence so as to include the mouth of Laurel Branch a direct line to the beginning with its appurtenances and all the right title interest and claims of the said JAMES BURRESS his heirs and assigns forever the said HANNAH BURRESS and ELIZABETH BURRESS to have and to hole the land here unto conveyed with all land singular with every part belonging thereto either in law or equity to have and to hold the said fifty acres of land the saidJames Ross doth by these presence bind himself his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claims or demands in testimony where of the said James Ross hath here unto set his hand and seal the year and date written.
