Description	:	Daughter of Bernard & Christine (Litjen) Brochtrup. She grew up in that area until she began nursing school at St. Josephs in Omaha, Nebraska. After graduation, she enlisted in the United States Army and served in World War II, following troops throughout Europe to several war fronts. After the war, she married Russell Bianchi Thomas, whom she had met while studying in Omaha and who had also served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After graduation, she enlisted in the United States Army and served in World War II, following troops throughout Europe to several war fronts. After the war, she married Russell Bianchi Thomas, whom she had met while studying in Omaha and who had also served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After living briefly in Colorado and Iowa, they moved to Columbus, Nebraska, in 1952. Elizabeth raised three daughters and a son and worked as a surgical nurse at St. Marys Hospital and later at Behlen Community Hospital. She belonged to St. Bonaventure Parish, and was a member for many years of Catholic Daughters and Catholic Nurses. She was very active in the Right to Life Movement, attending conventions and giving speeches on this topic. Mrs. Thomas stayed in Columbus until shortly after the death of her husband in 1999. Because of deteriorating health, she moved to Colorado where her daughters could care for her. Elizabeth Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Russell B. Thomas, her parents, and her six sisters. She is survived by her four children, Rebecca Kohlbecker of Parker, Colorado, Pamela Lopez of Littleton, Colorado, Mary Lynn Thomas of Parker, Colorado, and Timothy Thomas (Debbie) of Columbus, Nebraska. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Donations in lieu of flowers are requested to be made to the Russell and Elizabeth Thomas Memorial Fund, the proceeds of which will be given to the familys favorite charities.
