Description	:	The Altoona Herald, Altoona, IA January 27, 1921 Another Pioneer Passes Away Another of Altoona's pioneer citizens has passed away in the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Crawford, mother of A. H. Crawford. Mrs. Crawford had been a citizen of Altoona, with the exception of a few years, for fifty years. Read More	The Altoona Herald, Altoona, IA January 27, 1921 Another Pioneer Passes Away Another of Altoona's pioneer citizens has passed away in the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Crawford, mother of A. H. Crawford. Mrs. Crawford had been a citizen of Altoona, with the exception of a few years, for fifty years. She has been an invalid from old age and confined to her bed for the past year or more and passed away peacefully and quietly on last Saturday morning. Elizabeth Cheney was born in Springham, Mass. October 10, 1881. Was married to Chas. A. Crawford of Bennington, Vt. January 5, 1859. To this union was born four children, three of whom have passed away. Mr. and Mrs. Crawford came to Altoona in 1871 where they made there home until the husbands death December 18, 1899. In 1874 Grandma joined the Methodist church of Altoona being baptized by Rev. Miller pastor. In 1910 she moved to Des Moines where she made her home with her granddaughter; Lida McGovern until the latters death in February 1920. Since that time she has made her home with her son in Altoona until her death which occurred Saturday morning last, at 5:10 o'clock, Age 89 years 3 months and 12 days. She leaves to mourn her loss, one son. A. H., of this place, one brother Jas. Cheney of Bondurant, eleven grand children and eight great grand children. The funeral was held from the Methodist church Sunday at 2.30, conducted by the pastor Rev. Stevenson. After which the remains were laid to rest in the Altoona cemetery.
