Probate papers indicate that $1,000 was paid to Elizabeth's son William for "care, board and washing" for Elizabeth since 1893 to her death. Her funeral expenses were $67.50. These were both claims against her estate. Elizabeth is buried by her husband Thomas in Olive Chapel Cemetery, south of Attica in Indiana Twp, Marion County, Iowa. She died at the home of her son William. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Tagne of Attica at Olive Chapel, a small, white church on the same ground where she is buried. A land purchase in her name was recorded 25 Aug 1866 in the Marion County, Iowa, Records, Book I, No. 1, p237, for "50 acres more or less" from Balden Heaton for $1,200. (Did she have an inheritance from her father after his death in 1865 and used it to purchase land?) Elizabeth was illiterate. She used a mark for her signature. In 1885 she sold some of her land to her son William. In 1888 she sold some land to a C. H. Coolley. The Summer 1995 issue of Antrim Family Newsletter says that Elizabeth was born in Pennsylvania. I have seen other evidence to suggest she may have been born in Sabina, Clinton Co., Ohio.
