May 1971 ******** Clinton Herald; April 25, 1932 Infirmities of age and complications contributed to the death of here at 4 a.m. today of Mrs. Elise Rusch, 84, one of Grand Mound's oldest citizens. She had been ill for several months. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Trinity Lutheran church with the Rev. L. Eschbach officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. Elise Erbs Rusch was born in Germany, Sept. 27, 1847, and came to the United States and this vicinity in 1871. Two years later, she was married to Ernest Rusch, who preceded her in death. She has lived in Grand Mound with her son Otto since 1913, having come here from the family homestead. Surviving are five sons, Otto at home, Will of near Grand Mound, Henry of Parkersburg, Martin of Seneca, S.D., and Louis of DeWitt; two daughters, Mrs. Dora Fellner and Mrs. Ernest Block of near here; a brother, Chris Erbs of Welton, two sisters, Mrs. Marie Langbein and Mrs. Caroline Brick of Grand Mound, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
