Mrs. Perryman was born in Queensbury, N. B., in 1826. She was married to Luke Perryman in 1847, who died seventeen years ago. Six children were born to them, all of whom survive her, and mourn their loss. She came to Jones county thirty-seven years ago and settled near Amber, on a farm, where she remained until a few years back, when she moved to Amber, and lived a quiet life by herself. She joined the M. E. church four years ago, and lived a buoyant hopeful life. She was a kind neighbor, careful of her words that she might not offend the most sensitive feeling. She was well known and highly regarded, and her friends observed with sorrow her failing strength. She often visited her children, and was with her daughter in Chicago for her health, but failed rapidly, and finally gave up the struggle and fell asleep. She was unconscious the last three days of her life. Just before the end came she rallied and knew her friends. She bade them all good bye and passed away peacefully. She was brought to Amber for burial. The funeral services were held in the M. E. church in Amber, Sunday, January 26, at 2 o'clock p. in. Rev. J. N. Blodgett conducted the services, assisted by Dr. A. S. Palmer. A large congregation assembled in the church and followed her to the cemetery and laid her away to rest. Source: The Monticello Express 30 Jan 1896, Page 4. Mrs. Elizabeth Perryman of this place died Friday, Jan. 24th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Cripe, in Chicago, at the age of 70 years. She was an old and respected citizen of this vicinity. The remains were brought back to her home and interred in the Amber cemetery, Sunday, at 2 p. m. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Blodgett, assisted by Dr. Palmer. Her children were all in attendance at the funeral. A large concourse of friends followed the remains to their last resting place.
