Description	:	OBIT: After an illness of over seven months, Mrs. Elizabeth Fogarty passed away at the home of her son, Simon P. Fogarty at an early hour Friday morning at the age of 85. Born in Ireland, she came to this country at an early age, locating in St Louis where she was married in 1854, by the late Archbishop Ryan to Edward J. Fogarty who died here fifteen years ago. Read More	OBIT: After an illness of over seven months, Mrs. Elizabeth Fogarty passed away at the home of her son, Simon P. Fogarty at an early hour Friday morning at the age of 85. Born in Ireland, she came to this country at an early age, locating in St Louis where she was married in 1854, by the late Archbishop Ryan to Edward J. Fogarty who died here fifteen years ago. About thirty years of their married life was spent in Springfield, Illinois where they were neighbors and friends of Abraham Lincoln. In 1888 they came to Ellensburg. Mrs. Fogarty was a devout member of the Catholic Church in which she was a zealous worker as long as her strength remained. But her own co-religionists could have no superior claim over outsiders to friendship such as hers was. To all she dispensed kindness, charity, and love in a way so unassuming that it drew to her all neighbors, in a regard that held them and drew them to her couch even as her last breath went out. So, to all her acquaintances and numerous friends came a sense of deep sorrow when her beautiful life was rounded out and her ever cheerful presence was removed, and a bountiful measure of sympathy goes out to her stricken sons and daughter. The funeral services were held at St. Andres Catholic Church Monday morning, conducted by Rev. Father Sweens and included requiem high mass. The edifice was crowded with friends and another testimonial of regard was the tributes of flowers, the death chamber being literally banked with the choicest buds and blossoms.
