ELIZA CHICK VICTIM OF APOPLEXY Mrs. Eliza Chick, widow of W. C. Chick, died Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O. J. Lloyd, in St. Louis, following an attack of apoplexy. She was stricken last Wednesday and continued to grow worse until the end came. She had been in her usual good health, having gone to St. Louis shortly after Christmas to visit her daughter, and her death was a great shock to the family and friends. The body arrived here Monday evening, accompanied by her daughter and husband, and was taken to her home. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Christian church, conducted by Rev. F. M. Branic, assisted by Rev. Kuntz of Shelbina and Rev. C. E. Nichols of Clarence. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Mrs. Chick, formerly Eliza Stewart, was born Feb. 3, 1855, in Pennsylvania and was in her 71st year. She was a daughter of William and Elizabeth Stewart and was one of a family of twelve children, coming to Missouri when two years of age. On December 11, 1879, she was married to Worcester C. Chick, who dued Sept. 3, 1922. To this union six children were born, five daughters and one son. The son and one daughter died in their youth. The surviving children are: Mrs. O. J. Lloyd of St. Louis, Mrs. E. S. Collier of this city, Mrs. J. T. Doyle of Shelbina and Mrs. Shelby Feely of near Shelbyville. She also leaves three brothers, Robert Stewart of this city, Andrew and George E., also of this county, and one sister, Mrs. Alice Ray, who lives in the Duncan Chapel neighborhood. Seven grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Chick became a member of the Christian church at Berea in this county and had been a consistent chrisitan since early life. These folks had received word during the week that their mother, Mrs. Chick, who had been visiting another daughter, Mrs. Oliver Lloyd, of St. Louis, had had a paralytic stroke. Sunday eve the word arrived of her deth. We learn the body is to be brought to her home town Shelbyville, for burial. Another mother has gone, yet their kind words and sweet faces will forever linger as a treadured memory. The sorrowing ones have our deepest sympathy in the loss of their mother. Shelbyville, Mo., Feb. 18.—Mrs. Chester Chick , one of Shelbyvllle's oldest citizens, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Loyd in St. Louis. Sunday eveneing at 5 o'clock. The body arrived in Shelbyville Monday night and the funeral was held at the Shelbyville Christian church, of which she is a member, Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. She is survived by four children. Mrs. E. S. Collier, Mrs. Shelby Feely, both of Shelbyville, Mrs. Gertrude Loyd, of St. Louis, and Mrs. Fannie Doyle, of Shelbina.
