Elizabeth Ullrich, age 83, of Ida Grove, Iowa, died Tuesday March 29, 2011, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 1, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend Merle Mahnken officiateD, with burial in Morgan Township Cemetery, Schleswig.

Born July 8, 1927, on the family farm near Arthur, Iowa, Elizabeth was the daughter of James and Ellen "Nellie" (Irvine) Fulton. She attended country school and graduated from Ida Grove High School with the class of 1946. Following graduation, Elizabeth attended Northern Iowa Teachers College and taught at country school and later was a Nurse's Aide at the Ida Grove Hospital. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid in Schleswig.
On June 20, 1948, Elizabeth was united in marriage to William Ullrich. Five children were born to this union: James, Dale, Leila, Sheila, and Patricia. The couple farmed in the Arthur area until they retired and moved to Ida Grove in 1991.
Elizabeth enjoyed helping on the farm, gardening, baking and tending to her flower beds. She was a life-time member of the Blaine Friendly Neighbors. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Left to cherish her memory are four children, Dale (Sandy) Ullrich of Arthur, Leila Prell, Sheila Redenius, and Pat (Bill) Wellendorf, all of Ida Grove; 12 grandchildren, Jerry Ullrich and fiancée Robyn Reik, Jason Ullrich, Tracy (Steve) Pickhinke, Troy (Michele) Prell, Tina Schmidt, Bill (Susan) Redenius, Wylene Wessel, Jamie Redenius, Joe (Denice) Redenius, Kristi (Lucas) Brinkman, Kimberly (Justin) Van Driel and Clint Wellendorf; and 22 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Sheila (Delbert) Rohlk of Ida Grove; a sister-in-law, Beverly Fulton, and brother-in-law, Don Riessen, both of Ida Grove; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband William in 2009; her parents; a son, James Ullrich in 1971; a grandson, Jimmy Ullrich in 1976; a sister, Janet Riessen; and a brother, George Fulton. |
