Avery, and old and respected former resident of Putnam County, Fla., died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Horace Prior, Jacksonville, Fla., on Monday, March 20, 1911. The funeral was held in Jacksonville on Tuesday, the interment being at the Como-Pomona Burying Ground Wednesday, March 22. The family arrived by noon train and was met at the depot by friends. Read More	Mrs. Elizabeth G. Avery, and old and respected former resident of Putnam County, Fla., died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Horace Prior, Jacksonville, Fla., on Monday, March 20, 1911. The funeral was held in Jacksonville on Tuesday, the interment being at the Como-Pomona Burying Ground Wednesday, March 22. The family arrived by noon train and was met at the depot by friends. Carriages were waiting and conveyed the family and friends to the cemetery, where the burial was by the side of the husband she loved and her son they laid her. The commitment service at the grave was by Rev. J. B. Crippen. The hymn, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," was sung, and the grave was covered with floral wreaths and other loving tributes from friends in Jacksonville, Como and Pomona. Mrs. Elizabeth G. Avery came to Florida with her husband, the late Zelotes William Avery, in 1877, with a colony which settled in Satsuma. In 1878 Mr. and Mrs. Avery and family came to Pomona, Fla, where they made their home for many years. After the death of her husband, July 4, 1891, Mrs. Avery spent much of the time with her daughter, Mrs. H. Prior, where she made many friends, who esteemed her very highly. Her time was divided between Florida and the North, where her sons resided. For the past four years she has resided with Mr. and Mrs. Horace Prior in Jacksonville, and during her last illness was surrounded by children and grandchildren, and loving care made the last hours less painful. Mrs. Avery was a devoted mother and a consistent member of the Methodist Church. She leaves three sons - George Avery, Charles Avery and Frank Avery; also one daughter, Mrs. Horace Prior, two grandsons, Horace Prior, and Earnest Prior, of Jacksonville, and many great-grandchildren. Accompanying the remains to Lake Como were Mr. and Mrs. Horace Prior, Earnest Prior and the daughter, Miss Mary, also Miss Leila Prior, all of Jacksonville. To the bereaved family the sympathy of all is extended in this hour of grief and sorrow. (Times-Herald Obituary dtd Friday, 31 Mar 1911.)
