The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Perry, which occurred Sunday afternoon about three o'clock was a shock to her daughter, Miss Nora and a surprise to her neighbors find friends. Although she has been in poor health for some time no one had thought of her demise so soon. She was able to be up and around as usual, until shortly after the noon hour, when by the assistance of her daughter she went upstairs to lie down and rest. Her condition at once became serious and the Drs. were summoned but in only a short time she expired. Her funeral occurred at the Christian Church yesterday morning at 9:30 a. m conducted by Rev. R. B. Havenner, after which the remains were taken to the family burying ground near Leonard. Miss Nora, the only child and daughter, has the sympathy of the entire community in her bereavement. ELIZABETH HARDIN JEFFRIES was born in Marion County, Missouri, May 18, 1850, being a daughter of James W. and Elizabeth Jeffries. Her mother died when she was quite young, and her father was afterward united in marriage with Mrs. Lucy Bodwell. She came with her parents to Shelby County in the year 1867, settling on a farm west of Leonard. She was married to Joseph M. Perry November 24th, 1870, and to this union was born one daughter, Miss Nora. She lived with her husband on their farm west of Leonard until his death, with the exception of about six months that they lived in Clarence while he was under the care of a physician. After his death, she with her daughter remained on ti:e farm about two years, after which they moved to Clarence, where they have lived until her sudden death, which occurred June 2nd, 1912. Her age being 62 years and 14 days. She was converted to Christ when 16 years of age under the preaching of Bro. Ruby, and joined the Baptist church in Marion County, Missouri. She united with the Christian church in 1874 and always lived a quiet, consecrated, christian life. While she was quiet and unassuming, yet she was always interested in the welfare and progress of the church, attending when her health would permit and always contributing of her means for the support of the church. She was of an unusually jovial and happy disposition, ever making it pleasant for those in her company. She always scattered joy and sunshine wherever she went. She lived a quiet and peaceful life, was strongly attached to her family, her home and her church. Sister Perry leaves besides her daughter, Miss Nora, two brothers, James and Albert Jeffries of Marion County, Missouri, many distant relatives and a host of friends to mourn her death. But their loss is heaven's gain as there is no doubt as to the destiny of a good christian woman.
