Description	:	Elizabeth H. (Beeh) Bond, of Fort Dodge, died peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa. funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on January 31, 2012 at Corpus Christi Church, with the Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the spring at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waukon, IA. Elizabeth Hildred O'Riley was born in Waukon, Iowa, on February 3, 1932, the eldest daughter of Frederick and Hildred (Goslee) O'Riley. Liz attended local schools in Waukon and attended the University of Iowa to pursue nursing after graduating from high school. There she received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and was one of the first 40 women to receive a four-year nursing degree from the University of Iowa. She went on to teach nursing courses at the University of Iowa before marrying Edward F. Beeh Jr. on April 2, 1956. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and had three children: Deborah, Diane and Edward Beeh III. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish. Liz devoted her time to being a mother and homemaker while teaching nursing classes part-time at Trinity Regional Hospital and Iowa Central Community College. In 1973, Liz returned full time to her nursing career, establishing herself in the mental health field under Dr. Wadle and Dr. Berryhill. A true trailblazer for working women, Liz is credited with developing Iowa's first adult mental health outreach programs and was instrumental in the reintegration of people with mental illness from institution to community across a four-county area. From there, Liz developed the community support program and the first adult mental health drop-in day program, "Chat and Nibble". Liz was a true inspiration and source of empowerment for the countless patients whose lives she touched. Until her dying days, Liz continued to stay in touch with several former patients. In 1989, Liz married Virgil Bond of Fort Dodge. The couple retired in 1992 to Bella Vista, Arkansas, where Liz enjoyed an active lifestyle of golfing, playing bridge, tap dancing and socializing with friends. Following Virgil's death in 2002, Liz relocated to Fort Dodge to live closer to her family. Those thankful for having shared in Liz's life include: her daughters, Deborah (Doug) Gambrall of Anderson, IN, and Diane (Tim) Hancock of Fort Dodge, IA; and son, Edward Beeh III (Beth Ann) Beeh of Phoenix, AZ; Liz's sisters, Colleen (St. Claire) Smith of Ebony, VA, and Joyce Allen, of Ames, IA; grandchildren, Brittany (Mike) MacRitchie, Katey, Tim Jr. (Molly), Lucy, Michael and Patrick Hancock, Kate and Michael Beeh; great-grandchildren, Monroe and Jules MacRitchie, and Robbie Hancock; and her many nieces and nephews. Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Hildred O'Riley; brothers, Fred, Vernon and Larry; and her husband, Virgil Bond. Liz will be remembered for her zest for life, her wacky sense of humor, her passion for the game of golf, card playing, knitting and socializing with friends. Liz's unending compassion and generosity to her family, friends, patients and acquaintances will always live on in our memories.
