Read More	The Geuda Springs Herald, Sumner County, Kansas, March 28, 1884, P-2 C-1 We wish to record the death of sister Elizabeth Philips, daughter of Jacob and Rebecca Layton. Sister Philips was born in Rush Co. Ind. May 4, 1846, went with her parents to Boon Co. Ind., at about 12 years of age, at which place she remained until 1870. When she was married to J. T. Philips, emigrated to this State in 1877. She leaves four children two girls, and two boys, who are now left to mourn the loss of a mothers care. She became a member of the Christian Church in June 1881 and has ever since been a firm, live and active Christian, and led an exemplary life, she sweetly and camly fell asleep in Jesus at 10 o'clock March 22, 1884, aged 37 years, 10 months, and 18 days. Thus through the gateway of death she leaves her four little children, her husband and many friends to mourn her departure. Her funeral discourse was delivered by Eld. J. J. Broadbent to a large and attentive audience, who in sorrow for the departed and love and reverence for the living copeously shed the penitent tear, but we mourn not as those who have no hope; for she had confessed her Savior and obeyed him, and we can truly say "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.
