Ballard Mrs. Lizzie J. Ballard, 87, of 632 East Second street, died at 3:30 a.m. today at the Ottumwa hospital. She was the wife of the late J.A. Ballard. Mrs. Ballard was born August 19, 1886 [sic] in Ottumwa, the daughter of William and Sarah Morgan, and had spent all her life here. She was a charter member of the Willard street Methodist church, and a 52-year member of the Eastern Star No. 112, a member of the White Shrine No. 4 and of the Past Worthy Matron's club. She is survived by one brother, D.H. Morgan of Rock Island; a sister, Mrs. Flora Myers of Galveston, Tex., one half sister, Mrs. Willis Musgrove of Ottumwa, five grandchildren and give great-grandchildren. The body is at the Vaughan funeral home pending completion of funeral arrangements. "BALLARD SERVICES," From "Ottumwa Daily Courier," Tuesday, December 15, 1953, Page 16: Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie J. Ballard of 632 East Second street, who died Monday morning at Ottumwa hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Willard Street Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Myron E. Hayes, pastor. There also will be services by the Order of Eastern Star. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. Pallbearers will be W.D. Adams, Ray Gruel, Dr. Harry Cloyed, Glenn Morris, Parke Bowers, and Ralph Workman. The casket will be removed from the Vaughan funeral home to the church Wednesday noon, and will be closed at the beginning of services.
