Description	:	Elizabeth "Betty" Barbie, 91, St. Vincent's Care Center, Bismarck, died Aug. 16, 2001. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Charlie Heidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. today at St. Vincent's Care Center; from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today and from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan; and for one hour prior to services at the church. A rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Perry Funeral Home. Betty was born April 16, 1910, at Eureka, S.D., to Valentine and Felicity (Thomas) Weisbeck. She was raised and educated in Eureka. She worked for Master Cleaners and Dyers as a presser until her marriage to Erwin Barbie on Jan. 4, 1940, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Prior to color film, Betty color-tinted black and white photos taken by her husband, Erwin, an avid photographer. They moved to Venice, Calif., in 1968, where they managed an apartment complex. In 1976 they returned to Bismarck. Betty was a member of St. Jude's Mission at St. Mary's Catholic Church, a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters and also a member of a local homemakers club. She had a special devotion for the saints and Our Lady and a deep love for our Lord. She loved poetry and animals and had a special fondness for birds. She was artistic and painted Dresden figurines. She also had a green thumb for houseplants. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary and Duane Sailer, Bismarck, Elaine and Herb Schaff, Yelm, Wash., and Helen Barbie, Chisholm, Minn.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ernest Barbie, Marcella Barbie and Paul and Marilyn Barbie, all of Bismarck, and Edwin and Suzie Barbie, Salem, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Caroline Burgad, Strasburg Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin; and nine brothers and sisters.
