She was born July 13th, 1924 to Ralph and Mildred Reed in Bellingham, Wa. where she grew up and attended Bellingham High. Bettie enjoyed spending time with her neighborhood friends and singing. She was born July 13th, 1924 to Ralph and Mildred Reed in Bellingham, Wa. where she grew up and attended Bellingham High. Bettie enjoyed spending time with her neighborhood friends and singing. She also loved spending time with family and going to the beach. Bettie worked at the Boeing Defense Plant during WWII. She married Kenneth "Jack" Taylor, of Sedro Woolley, in December of 1946. They later moved to Ellensburg where they started a business, Ken and Elmer's. Their son, Ken, was born, then daughter, Pam. They returned to settle in Mt. Vernon where their other daughter, Val, was born. Many happy years followed spending time with family, camping, fishing, and boating. Several summer vacations and weekends were spent at Birch Bay, a lifelong favorite place of Bettie's. She also spent over 20 years volunteering with Jack for the Civil Air Patrol. She was an officer and worked with search and rescue as well. She was a member of the Elks Club. Bettie also sang with the St. Andrew's Society and was a member of the Methodist Church. She worked at Larry's Pharmacy and also did some modeling for local dress shops. Jack passed away in the summer of 1980. She volunteered at the Skagit Valley Hospital and spent a lot of time over the next year with close friends and family. Bettie later married Clarence Yoder. They also enjoyed camping and spending time with friends and family and were married 20 years until "Yode" died in 2003. A few years later Bettie moved to Ellensburg to live with her daughter Pam's family. She enjoyed spending time with their family, friends and church. As she grew to need more help she moved back to the "westside" to an adult family home in Bothell close to other family members. Bettie is survived by her son, Ken Taylor (Jan), of La Conner; daughters: Pam Conover (Terry), of Ellensburg, and Val Taylor Segesser (Bill), of Woodinville; seven grandchildren: Shelley and Josh Taylor, Jason, Tara Jean, and Nathan Taylor Conover, Sean and Jake Segesser; and one great-grandchild, Wyatt. Norman, her loyal feline companion, was her delight these past ten years. Preceding her in death was her first husband, Kenneth "Jack" Taylor; second husband, Clarence "Yode" Yoder; her parents; two brothers; three sisters; and granddaughter, Amanda Faith Conover.
