Elizabeth and Peter are the parents of: Mathilda Otto Matthew Henry Nicholas Johanna Laura Anne George John Edwin W ******** Alton Democrat; September 1, 1955 Mrs. Elizabeth Kellen died Friday, August 26th at the Cherokee Hospital, where she was a patient for several years following a fall at her home here in which her hip was broken. She was a beloved resident of Alton and vicinity since 1889, when she came here as a bride. She was 88 years old. Elizabeth Martin was married to Peter Kellen at New Holstein, Wisconsin July 2, 1889, and the couple came to this vicinity, settling on a farm east of Alton, now the Will Bindner farm. The family moved to town several years before the death of Mr. Kellen in 1934. Seven children were born to the union: Matilda, Mrs. Nic Henrich of Alton; O.M. Kellen, Waco, Texas; H.N. Kellen, Sioux City; Johanna, Mrs. Al Staab, Hadley, Minnesota; Laura and George Kellen, Alton; E.W. Kellen, Honolulu, T.H. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Church Monday, August 29th. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Kellen was a devoted wife and mother and a good neighbor. She is remembered kindly by many friends.
