Read More	OBITUARY: - MILLER: Elizabeth Lorraine Miller (nee Howard) - passed away at the Rivers Personal Care Home, October 2, 2018 at the age of 92. She was born August 8, 1926, the third eldest of six children born to Whitfield and Elizabeth Howard of Miniota. She grew up on her family’s farm learning good work ethics and attended school in Miniota. On March 22, 1947 she married Lorne Miller of Isabella, where they farmed and raised their four children. During this time she was an active young woman in her community. She made meals to feed the road crew, sewed articles of clothing for the Red Cross and managed to find time to curl and play cards with family and friends. There was always a big garden to attend to and subsequent preserving for winter needs. Lorraine was an expert at making large quantities of bread each week to feed her growing children. In 1971, due to Lorne’s poor hearth, they sold their farm and moved to Hamiota. Lorraine embraced her new life off the farm with great energy. She still had a big garden and yard to care for, but took the time to meet her new neighbors. She loved her "corner" and was great at organizing impromptu pot luck meals and helping those same neighbors with their chores. She was a terrific seamstress, and made many graduation and wedding dresses, as well as clothing for her grandchildren. Numerous alterations and mending jobs were done for Hamiota residents. She joined in on community activities, becoming a member of the Legion Auxiliary, Seniors Recreation program, holding several offices in these organizations, as well as the Grace Rebekah Lodge. While taking part in the Seniors group she was able to travel and participate in the regional and provincial games, playing carpet bowl and floor shuffleboard. With a few different travel companions, she was able to go on many memorable trips including the Maritimes, Victoria, BC, Hawaii, the UK, Ireland, Nashville, Las Vegas, and Reno. Lorraine moved to park Residence in 2005, enjoying the companionship of her new neighbors there. Eventually in 2010, as her health started to decline, she made yet another move. Rivers Personal Care became her new home. Lorraine treasured her time with all the assorted family members, loved to bake, cook, put meals together at a moments notice. She enjoyed a good joke, contest, or skit. Dressing up in costume even in her 80's, Lorraine loved a good party! The family would like to thank the staff at the Rivers PCH for all their care and compassion during Lorraine’s stay. A service of remembrance to cerebrate Lorraine's life will be held at Campbell’s Funeral Home in Hamiota, October 27, 2018 at 2:00. Interment will follow in Hamiota Cemetery.
