Description	:	Elizabeth Lou Betty Myer was born Feb. 24, 1931, in Holyoke, the seventh child of Vernon and Leona (Daniels) Smith. She died Dec. 17, 2017, at Regent Park nursing home in Holyoke. She was 86 years of age at the time of her death. Betty was raised and educated in Holyoke. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years. Betty married Gerald H. Myer on March 26, 1960. Together they raised her two sons and daughter and his two sons on a ranch near Parks, Nebraska. Later they moved into Haigler, Nebraska. She cooked for many years at the Haigler Cafe, and later on, she and Gerald mowed yards in the Haigler area. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Leona; husband, Gerald; daughter-in-law, Mary Pihlgren; firstborn sister, Katherine Darlene; three brothers, Sidney Smith, Wendall Smith and wife Ramona, and Stanton Smith and wife Dorothy; and sister, Lois Lakey and husband Bobbie. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Watson and husband Ted of Hampton, Virginia; two sons, Charles Pihlgren and wife Jinsoon of Fort Madison, Iowa, and Bill Saylor of Delta Junction, Alaska; two stepsons, Tom Myer and wife Charlotte of Wray and Gary Myer and friend Patricia Lowry of Lubbock, Texas; two brothers, Robert Smith and wife Sharon of Sterling and Gerald Smith and wife Carolyn of Holyoke; two sisters, Nancy Bradford and husband Walter of Wray and Patricia Warren and husband Leonard of Holyoke; sister-in-law, Bonnie Smith of Holyoke; niece and caretaker, Helen Miller of Amherst; eight grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends. There will not be a visitation/viewing or funeral. There will be a family gathering at a later date at the Haigler Cemetery. Any cards or memorials can be sent to Helen Miller, P.O. Box 212, Holyoke, Colorado 80734. Baucke Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
