Description	:	Mrs. Elizabeth L. Funderburk died at her home on College street at three o'clock Friday morning, June 30, 1944, after a long illness. She was born January 25, 1863, being in her 82nd year. Though born in Lancaster county, S. C., she was almost a lifelong resident of Monroe; her father having brought his children to North Carolina when she was quite young to take advantage of the educational opportunities. Read More	Mrs. Elizabeth L. Funderburk died at her home on College street at three o'clock Friday morning, June 30, 1944, after a long illness. She was born January 25, 1863, being in her 82nd year. Though born in Lancaster county, S. C., she was almost a lifelong resident of Monroe; her father having brought his children to North Carolina when she was quite young to take advantage of the educational opportunities. Mrs. Funderburk was a daughter of Armstrong and Mollie Funderburk and on her father's side a first cousin of J. Raymond Shute and Mrs. Elizabeth Brewer of Monroe. She had three brothers and two sisters living. These are U. A., Edward and Raymond Funderburk of Lancaster. Mrs. Funderburk was twice married. Her first husband was the late William R. Marsh, who during his lifetime was a very prominent and successful business man of Monroe. Their surviving children are: Mrs. S. M. Medlin of Atlanta, Mrs. J. L. Winchester, Mrs. R. F. Parker, Mrs. A. M. Lee, Mrs. Roy Hill and W. C. Marsh, of Mornoe. Mr. Marsh died June 19, 1902. Some years later Mrs. Marsh and the late W. E. Funderburk were married. Mr. Funderburk, who died on July 14, 1936 was a very prominent and influential citizen of Monroe. Mrs. Funderburk lived quietly at her home on College street, with her son, W. C. Marsh, daughter, Mrs. Roy Hill and Mr. Hill, and two grandchildren Billy Marsh and Dorothy L. Hill, who were very devoted to her. She was a member of Central Methodist church and the funeral was conducted by her pastor Rev. J. H. Armhurst, and Rev. F. B. Drane, at five o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home. Active pallbearers were Hoyle Griffin, W. B. Stevens, J. Hampton Price, Rupert Funderburk, Frank Richardson and Jack Porterfield. Honorary pallbearers were: Dr. G. M. Smith, H. H. Wilson, J. Ray Shute, J. F. Milliken, Claude Eubanks, Henry Austin, R. C. Griffin, George Porterfield, A. J. Rohr, J. W. Laney, George B. McClellan, Roy Brewer, David H. Hinson, Clegg Keziah, Albert McCall, John R. Welsh, Eugene Presson, Roscoe Phifer, J. W. Lathan, P. H. Johnson, J. Henry Griffin and Irwin Price. Flowers bearers were Mesdames Earl Shute, T. B. Young, L. E. Tuggle, W. J. Armfield, S. S. Howie, W. B. Stevens, Irwin Price Rupert Funderburk, Frank McCollum, J. E. Clary, A. A. Scales, J. W. Lathan, H. D.
