She was born on April 1, 1920, in the Brush Creek Community of Grayson County, Va., to Clint and Alice Jones Jackson. Read More	Elizabeth Marie Jackson Coe April 1, 1920 ~ October 18, 2009 Elizabeth Marie Jackson Coe of Walnut Cove, N.C., and formerly of Galax, Va., departed this life on Sunday, October 18, 2009. She was born on April 1, 1920, in the Brush Creek Community of Grayson County, Va., to Clint and Alice Jones Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George William Coe, in 1980; and brothers, Haswell and Kyle Jackson. She was a graduate of Fries High School, and Radford State Teachers College in 1943. She taught home economics at Draper High School, and married George William Coe, the love of her life on July 28, 1944. They lived in the Panama Canal Zone from 1945 to 1951, where she worked in a military aircraft parts supply depot. Upon returning to the United States, she and her husband operated a successful cattle and poultry layer farm in Orange County, Va., during the 1950's. They moved to Accokeek, Md., where both she and her husband worked for ten years at the Indian Head Arsenal. She and her husband retired to Galax, Va., in the early 1970's where they devoted the majority of their time caring for her aging parents. She moved to Walnut Cove, N.C., in 2005 to live near her sister and nieces. She was a member of Cold Springs United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included but were not limited to playing bridge and traveling. She was an avid reader with interests in financial markets, and national and international news. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Geneva Jackson and Wendell Byrd, of Rural Hall, N.C.; nieces and spouses, Mary and Mark White, and Sarah and Tom Tran; nephews and spouse, Steve and Jan Jackson, Tom Jackson, and James Williams; four grandnieces and spouse, Amanda Jackson, Lauren Jackson, Savanna and Justin Yount, and Sheree Jackson; one grandnephew, Matthew White; several cousins; and several other Coe family members. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Ken Blevins officiating. Music will be provided by a special niece and her husband, Mary Ann and Frank Archer. Burial will follow in Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday one hour prior the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. The family is most appreciative for the care provided to her at WFBMC on the Palliative Care Unit, with special thanks to Tiffany and Betty.
