Inks According to her obituary in the Shelby (NE) Sun, "Elizabeth McMeekin, daughter of Dupree and Isabelle McWha, was born August 9, 1857, and departed this life July 25, 1941, at Lynwood, California, aged 83 years, 11 months and 14 days. She was married January 4, 1880, to James McMeekin, in the Presbyterian church, in Millisle, County Down, Ireland, coming to Coal Valley, Illinois in the same year. They lived in Coal Valley four years then came to Polk County, Nebraska in 1884, making their home five miles north of Shelby until 1917 when they established a home in Shelby. After the death of Mr. McMeekin October 31, 1926, Mrs. McMeekin moved to Lynwood, California, June, 1934 where she resided until her death. To Mr. and Mrs. McMeekin were born twelve children, eleven of whom survive her. The children are: George, James, Frank, and Robert, of Shelby; John of North Platte, and Hugh of Lynwood, California; Nellie Ingalls of Shelby; Belle From of Harrison, Nebr.; Margaret Funkhouser, of Reno, Nevada; Helen Inks and Ruby McMeekin of Lynwood, Calif. One daughter, Mary Inness died December 31, 1932. Mrs. McMeekin is also survived by one sister, Agnes Finley, in Ireland; thirty-six grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren. Mrs. McMeekin received her early religious training in the Presbyterian Church of Millisle, County Down, Ireland, but forty years ago became a member of the United Brethren Church in Shelby. . . burial was in Graceland, Shelby Cemetery."
