Description	:	Elizabeth Mullen Piercy was born at Shellsburg, Wisconsin, November 26, 1854. She was married to Chas. Piercy at Shellsburg, July 4, 1870. They lived at Shellsburg for seven years and in 1877 they moved to Iowa and settled on a farm south of where the town of Newell is now located. Newell was then just a small village surrounded by considerable wild prarie land. She was one of the old settlers and residents in this part of Buena Vista county having lived in this vicinity for 57 years, and has often told of the hardships endured at that time. She moved into Newell in 1907 where she has lived ever since. Two girls and two boys died... Read More	Elizabeth Mullen Piercy was born at Shellsburg, Wisconsin, November 26, 1854. She was married to Chas. Piercy at Shellsburg, July 4, 1870. She moved into Newell in 1907 where she has lived ever since. Two girls and two boys died in infancy and her husband proceeded her in death fifteen years ago. Those living and left to mourn her departure are Mrs. Sarah Boddy of Kensal, North Dakota, Mrs. Anna Traum of Boone. Iowa, Mrs. Cora Brown of Sioux City, Iowa Mrs. Carrie Clark of Fonda, Iowa, Mrs. Elizabeth Loomis of Friendship, Wis., Mrs. Louise McCammant of Jolley, Iowa, and Mrs. Lucy Ellis and Henry, Herbert, Edgar and Ernest Piercy all of Newell, Iowa. She also leaves twenty-two grand children. Ten great grand children, two sistprs, Mrs. Jennie A. Allison of Shellsburg, Wis., and Mrs. James Carr of Scales Mound, Ill. besides many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Piercy has been a professed Christian for many years and lias been a member of the Congregational church in Newell for a considerable part of her Christian life. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the church and of the Legion Auxiliary of Newell. She was a woman of quiet disposition loved her home and was interested in her large family of children.
