Description	:	Elizabeth Penter (surname sometimes spelled Painter), daughter of Jacob and Eva Swickard Penter, married William Campbell on 18 Mar 1828 in Jefferson County, Ohio. They settled in Jefferson County where most of their 8 known children were born. After William's death in 1849, Elizabeth moved with her children to Moorefield, in Harrison County, Ohio. Most of her children remained in and around Moorefield. My 2nd great-grandmother, Delilah Jane Campbell, married James Dougherty Smith and moved west where they settled in Nebraska. They settled in Jefferson County where most of their 8 known children were born. After William's death in 1849, Elizabeth moved with her children to Moorefield, in Harrison County, Ohio. Most of her children remained in and around Moorefield. My 2nd great-grandmother, Delilah Jane Campbell, married James Dougherty Smith and moved west where they settled in Nebraska. Little is known about William. He may have been related to Homer Moore Campbell, also born around 1803 and often confused with him by researchers. Homer Campbell married Prudence Curtis in 1824 in Portage, Ohio, where they both lived until their deaths about 1850. In spite of the fact that church records show Elizabeth as William's wife and three of their childrens' death records show the parents as William and Elizabeth; and there is no evidence that Elizabeth married after William's death (in all census records she is shown as a widow, or without a husband), she continues to be shown in some research as being married to Homer. Homer and his wife Prudence Curtis, lived in Portage, Ohio and William and Elizabeth lived in Jefferson, Ohio. William and Elizabeth's children are: Hugh, b. 1830; Uriah, b. 1831; Leah, b. 1835; Jacob, b. 1836; Rachael, b. 1837; Delilah Jane, b. 1838; Joseph, b. 1839 and Isaac, b. 1843.
