(Dieuwerke was the widow of Enno van Dam, who had died July 2, 1885 at around 32 years of age). On May 20, 1916 in Uithuizen, Elizabeth married Johannes Peters, the son of Gerhard Peters and Trijntje Kremer (sister of Ebel Kremer). On May 20, 1916 in Uithuizen, Elizabeth married Johannes Peters, the son of Gerhard Peters and Trijntje Kremer (sister of Ebel Kremer). She was 28 years old and a domestic servant, and Johannes was 24 years old, and a labourer. They had five children: ~ Tena (Trientje) born July 24, 1917 ~ Della (Dieuwerke) born May 13, 1920 ~ John Jr. (Jan) born October 14, 1921 ~ Elizabeth born November 9, 1923 ~ Hilda (Hilje) born November 21, 1925 John's brother-in-law Hendrik Wierenga was planning to immigrate to Canada, and he was persuaded to go too. The John Peters family left Rotterdam on April 3, 1928 and sailed on a 10-day voyage, arriving in Edmonton, and then going to Tofield where John had work. In the fall of 1928, they moved to Neerlandia, and John filed for a homestead in November. It was around this time that Elizabeth was due to deliver her sixth baby. Unfortunately her delivery did not go well. The child was stillborn, and Elizabeth was taken to Edmonton Hospital with complications, where she died six days later (December 1928). It was a very difficult time for John - a widower in a new country, without much money, and five children to look after. * Elizabeth's half-sisters were: - Geertje van Dam, born around 1881 in Uithuizermeeden, and who died in Uithuizen February 25, 1960 at the age of 79 years - Freerktje van Dam, born September 13, 1884 in Uithuizermeeden, and who died in Uithuizen February 3, 1962 at the age of 77 years
