Elizabeth Rozell was born in Columbia county, Pennsylvania on Oct 17, 1837 and entered into her rest April 20, 1918, aged 80 years, 6 month and 3 days. She was married to Joseph H. Bacon November 28, 1858, and six children were born to them, two dying in their infancy. After living in Pennsylvania for a number of years, they moved to Kansas, and here their son, Loran D. died after reaching manhood. Her husband died here November 28, 1903. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Abbigal Kirckbaum, of Danville, Pa.; Mrs. Amanda R. Craft and Mrs. Irene F. Amos, of Burlingame; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; also a sister, Mrs. Harriet Case, of Benton, Pa.; two sister-in-law, Mrs. Jennie Rozell and Mrs. Lizzie Rozell. Funeral services were held from the Prairie Center church Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. J. Marshall of Burlingame M.E. church. Interment was made in the Prairie Center cemetery where her husband and son are also buried. In early life Mrs. Bacon made a profession of religion and united with the M.E. church. After coming to Kansas she became a earnest and active worker in the Prairie Center church, cheerfully bearing many burdens in the early years of the struggling church. The church was ever her home and the bible her constant companion. She came down to the river repeating the promises of God and feeling his divine presence with her. May the loving, christian life that has passed from our view stimulate us all to live more nobly, plan more unselfishly, suffer more patiently, and bring comfort, inspiration and peace to the hearts that are made sad by her departure.
