Elizabeth Wegner was born October 15, 1898 at Wisner, the daughter of Paul and Marie (Meth) Strese. She graduated from Wisner High School and taught school for four years in Cuming County before her marriage to Paul J. Wegner on July 14, 1920 at Fremont. Mrs. Wegner served on the Creighton Library Board and was a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary organized in 1935. She was past president and past district president of the VFW Auxiliary. She was a worthy matron of the Order of Easter Star and charter member and past president of the Creighton Woman's Club. She helped organize the Knox County Junior Red Cross and served as president. Mrs. Wegner was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America for more than 50 years. She received the Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor Award, helped to organize the American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of the Congregational Church. She sold Stanley Home Products for more than 25 years. Survivors include a son, Fredrick of Des Moines, IA; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren and sister, Mrs. Esther Von Seggren of Wisner. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1975; one son, Franklyn; three grandchildren; one brother and six sisters.
